When the MariaDB Database Innovation Summit 2021 transitioned to a fully virtual format, it needed a branded, scalable microsite that could support live video sessions, real-time updates, and seamless attendee engagement. The platform had to be intuitive, visually cohesive, and optimized for performance across all devices.

Key challenges included:

Creating a user-friendly interface for navigating multiple live sessions.

Ensuring brand consistency across the microsite, presentations, and video content.

Optimizing for performance while handling dynamic content updates.

Attendees often struggled with virtual event fatigue and difficulty tracking sessions, requiring a solution that prioritized clarity, engagement, and ease of use.

Approach

To streamline the user experience, I developed a scalable design system that maintained consistency across all event materials. The microsite was structured as a centralized hub, featuring:
